i have a 91 dodge stealth with a 3 liter sohc.  The other day i started
my car and a few blocks down the road it just shut off and then kicked
back up and ran for a second then shut back off.  after getting it
towed back to my place i figured it was a fuel issue.  so i changed the
front fuel filter  and the fuel pump and fuel sock.  but it still
doesnt want to start.  it will start some of the times but not alot.
and sometimes it idles fine for a few seconds before it shuts off and
other times it wants to back fire.  the starting pattern really doesnt
change depending on throttle position. but no matter what i cannot keep
it running for more than 5-10 seconds.  there is also a clicking sound
coming from a what looks to be a relay or sensor mounted on the fire
wall right behind throttle body.  there is two hoses located on the
piece coming from the throttle body and two wire on the other side of
it going in to the main harness. also this piece clicks with just the
ignition on not even just trying to start the vehicle.  also the check
engine light is on and when this piece clicks it makes the check engine
like blink on and off rapidly just like the clicks. also just to let
you know there has been no mods to this motor or car except a k/n air
filter. i have checked all my connection on the motor and anywhere on
the harness that i could see and all vaccum lines seem to be secure.i
have also had the heads redone and new timing belt and distributer cap
and rotor and it was professionally alined.  and the car has been
running great for 7 months till just the other day. any help with this
would be very much appreciated thanks mike

I'd check that the cam belts have not jumped a tooth.

Your ECU is screwed. Pull it out open the housing and look at the traces
surrounding the capacitors. You'll most likely see crud that is eating the
traces; it's electrolyte that's leaking from the caps.
Any decent TV repair guy can fix it or you can Google for info on
specialists. Any ECU that you locate will either be A) already repaired B)
require repair. C) be a new and very expensive item
This is common stuff. If you go to the dealer or a repair shop, they're
going to try to sell you a new factory part that costs over $1000. The
capacitors required are under $5.00. Most of the repair joints ask $100~$150
"the check engine like blink on and off rapidly just like the clicks. "

That's the computer cycling on and off...game over.
Good Luck.
