I'm looking for a place (besides the dealer) to buy the rubberized molding
strip that goes over the doors.  The rubber is cracking and the chrome
underneith is showing (ugly).

Dealer is likely your only source, but here's an alternative. Go down to
your automotive paint store and buy
- a can of black rubberized texturing paint. This is the stuff used to
protect sill panels before the paint goes on.
- some masking tape.
- some 400 grit paper

Mask the moulding with tape and newspaper as necessary. Abrade the rubber
coating and the "chrome" (actually zinc). Remove any loose bits if you can
with an exacto knife. Give the can a good shake and apply several coats,
letting dry for 15-30 minutes between each. Where the cracks are give it a
bit extra to fill them in. When its all dry, remove the masking.

Thanks Steward,

Do you know of any dealers that have a online parts list with prices?

What brand of rubberized paint did you use?  the zinc is showing at he
bottom of the cracks only. so I sould only abrade the rubbers surface and
paint away. (right?)

You wouldn't know ofa cood source of an aftermarket head gasket as well.
the stock one started leaking at 70,000 miles and has been ever since 150K
miles now.  I've already replace the valve cover gasket and it stopped that
leak but there is still oil leaking down the back of the engine.  might
change the valve seals while I'm at it.

The car is stock and mostly a commuter so no extreme performance stuff
needed.

I work for Advance Auto parts in PA and we have a program called Everdrive, we dont have it in stock in the stores but what it is is they log into the computers and they can get into everdrives system and its kind of like a giant junkyard of remanufactured parts and parts that are still good from junk yards.  Just call your local advance and ask them, if theres an advance around you.  That or we even do sell the underized rubbercoating cans, sound proof and all

thank
