I just got off the phone with a mechanic, he says that my Magna has a
tensioner, but that it has no ratchet system to hold it out. So im
thinking its come all the way out or something and needs to be somehow
jiggled back in. Im gonna try first thing tomorrow.
Have Just replaced the head gasket on my 86 magna also, And i have
exactly the same problem as you.
my Gregory’s Manual doesnt say anything about it, and a friend of
mine who is a retired diesel mechanic was stumped aswell..
We tried pushing it down and pulling it up and pulling it across..
Please let me know if u find a solution.
