Yes, there is a problem with the gaskets of the dieselpump.
I don't know the age of the pajero but overhere (The Netherlands) all
Pajero's (v2x and v4x types) had a replacement of the pitman-arm.

You can check out the forum at www.pocuk.com (Pajero Owners Club)

thats strange my 98 montero sport I believe you call them shogun sports
pitman arm is strong as hell. i have taken it all over the back woods of
Northern California(the redwood forest not easy terrain for any vehicle)
Wore out the king pin shims but the tie-rod ends pitman-arm and ball
joints all all in good shape. I think that the Mitsus' Pajero-Montero
all some of the toughest suvs made

The thread (is this the right term? ) was too short, so we all got a new
pitman arm in a recall action.
Nothing to do with strenght of te pitman arm itself.
Probably there where problems with a loosening nut.
They said to check if replacement was nessesary but no check was done,
replacement straight away.

In The Netherlands we call it Pajero SWB or LWB, and we have a Pajero Sport
which is more of a 4wd roadcar. (say a luxe L200)
In England it is called Pajero or Shogun (don't as me why)
In France and Spain they called it Montero. (in Spain, Pajero seems to be a
word with another meening)
