I have a mitsubishi magna se 1993. Sometimes while i’m driving the
battery light will turn on and the temperature gauge rises. If the
lights are on they become brighter. This can last from a few minutes
to 30 minutes. Then the battery light switches off the temperature
returns to normal and the lights dim. What could be causing this? Can
anyone help me?

My first thought was "how could THAT happen?". But then ... "they become
brighter" is the clue. The alternator is not regulating, and the charge
voltage goes way up, perhaps over 15v.

Get the alternator checked, along with the main charge connections to the
battery.
