I have a 2.0 non turbo that has idle problems. Since buying the car it
has always idled high, around 2,000 rpms. The exhaust would glow
bright red at the end of each race(10 laps around dirt track). So I
upgraded to the bigger blue fuel injectors. It helped the glowing
exhaust but made the idle problem worse(3,000 with idle screw all the
way in.) I changed the iac with another(used)one but no differance.
also changed the tps with another.no change. However if I unplug the
airflow sensor The idle will drop to norm and run a little rough but
still tacks up good. I can not figure this out, can anyone help?

Red hot exhaust manifold? Even for a non-turbo this is not normal: sounds to
me its running very lean. I'd also suspect the cam belt alignment (if std
cams, and esspec modified cams) and the ign timing. I'd check for air/vacuum
leaks in the intake area, but almost surely there'd be a hissing sound.
