Autozone has a scan tool and scanned my car which indicated 0135 error,
upstream o2 sensor. So I just bought the upstream Oxygen sensor from them.
However, it looks like the wires wont be long enough. Is that normal? Can I
just solder the old harness on, which will extend it?

Thx...

yes.
auto zone sold you a generic sensor as opposed to a vehicle specific sensor.
no huge deal but they should have informed you.

The problem is that the wire and connector does not even come close to the
vehicle specific. I tried to install it, even thought about cutting and
matching the wires, but took it back. I will go to Mitsu. on monday and get
the correct one. Do you have any idea how much it costs?
thx,..

I didn't catch the vehicle, but this is a standard problem with AZ and O2s.
The sensor is about 60-120 bucks at the dealer. AZ sells only a generic
which works just the same, but requires tapping and splicing.

that's pretty reasonable pricing... partznet.com has them for $5.00 less

I ran into this before with AutoZone.

If this is a Galant, an Eagle Talon, or Mits Eclipse, don't even try to
splice it in.  It won't work.  Believe me I've tried.

Return the 02 sensor to AutoZone, get your money back and get the
correct part from the dealer.  They may get you the wrong one as well
(too short) if so return that one and have them get you the real one.
Above all, be persistent.

Cheers,
CMF

The car is an Eagle Talon, stupid of me to leave out such a trivial piece of
info...

In Autozone's defense, what the person sold you was probably a universal
BOSCH branded O2 sensor, Autozone does not stock OR sell generic O2 sensors.
the universals are Bosch, but yes you have to splice the wires yourself
which I guarentee will cause problems.  Bosch created the oxygen sensor,
they are not generic.  I've had excellent performance from the Bosch o2
sensors.
