what car? could be a poor connection to the sender, a defective sender or
your clearances in your engine are opening up do to wear and allowing oil
pressure to drop.
start with the wire going to the pressure sender. on the dsm cars this
connector is pretty cheezy.

Thanks for the quick response.
My apologies,
1997 Galant 2.4L 157,000+ miles.
Have not missed 3k oil change at any time. Bring it in to all
regular scheduled servicing.

Simpleton is correct. Check the oil pressure sending unit.
