If you are thinking of a 4G63T then the intake is on the rear facing side of
the engine as installed in your car. The new 2.4L MIVEC 4G69 is designed to
use an F5M4x series transmission, and hence the intakes are on the OTHER
side of the engine.

The F5M4x series has done away with the secondary shaft inside the
transmission (saves manufacturing costs), and of course the engine still
rotates clockwise as before. Hence the 180 degrees rotation, and hence
switching intake and exhaust sides. You also CANNOT put a 4G63 head on a
4G69, and even if you could, you lose the MIVEC stuff.

In other words, you can't stick a MIVEC into a car unless you are prepared
to use the associated transmission, and its
      M A J O R
surgery to switch the orientation of an engine in your car.

Mivec's can have turbo's added but more popular is the 1.8L turbo GSR motor
with a MIVEC Head, as the head matches the block without any work.  Cambelts
etc need to be changed etc as the MIVEC head is taller than the GSR, and the
GSR block is taller than the MIVEC.

MIVEC's came out in 1992 and continued till 1998, so they can be found in
both original or 180 degree rotations.

Check out http://forums.MIVEC.co.nz or http://forums.NZMMC.co.nz for more
information as some of the members have MIVEC turbos (Both are free to
join).

Also new MIVEC engines are not performance engines, they switch at 3500rpm
for economy.
