Howdy all, I'll be picking up a 98 Altima GXE, 103,000 miles, very good
condition, new battery, new tires, new brakes, for $4,200.00 (all records)

Any caveats with this vehicle?

Thanks, I appreciate all feedback.

I don't know about you but there is no way in hell I would pay 4200.00 bucks
for a hundred plus thousand mile vehicle

offer the gut 2k cash, If he does not take it then walk away

Get real!  The going price in autotrader.com for a 98 with 100k miles is
between $4500 - $6500 by owner and $5500-7500 by dealer.  You wont find a
'98 anywhere for $2k unless it's smashed or the seller is stoned.  $4,200 is
on the low end of the price range FSBO.

I bought a '98 new in '98 and it has 182,000 miles.  Until the timing chain
jumped a tooth (no engine damage) 500 miles ago, the only repair other than
scheduled services was a clutch at about 100,000 miles and the *pulley* on
the A/C compressor (not the compressor itself).  The repair for the timing
chain was about $1500, and the chains (there's 2) will get noisy before it
becomes a problem.  My original struts are shot, but I'm choosing to live
with that.  Oh, and the stereo stopped working at some point.  That's all.
I hope you have as good of an experience as I've had.

Thanks all, seems like a real nice car and it's in great condition!
