Trying to replace the brake switch (thinking that is the problem) If
looking down from the top of the steering wheel, there are two switches
underneath the steering column.  Which is the brake switch? Left or Right

Neither, the brake light switch is on the mount that the brake pedal
stops against.  Basically, look up under the dash where the brake pedal
goes op and you will find where it rests when it is not pressed and just
above that will be the switch.
