All,
I've got a 2K Max SE, 5spd (54K miles) with what appears to be a noisy
clutch cable or mechanism when depressing the clutch. I had a friend
peek into the engine compartment while I repeatedly operated the clutch.
The noise seems to originate from outside the transmission and from
what is visible, a cable with a rubber boot over it, under the
intake/airbox tubing. It is kind of metallic squeak/groan noise. I can
shift fine with no resistance or binding and there doesn't appear to be
any other associated problems, just noisy.
This is my first Maxima. I consider myself reasonably handy with tools
and have done complete clutch/brake/struts/CV axle/water pump/timing
belt work on a previous vehicle ('89 Jetta).
Has anyone with a manual Maxima had this problem? If so, what was the
fix. NissTech, your thoughts?
TIA

Took it to the dealer, they lubed up the rod mechanism (parts that are
just before they disappear into the tranny) and voila!
