I took my Sedona in today to have a few items serviced (CD player, seat
belt, visor light)and looked at the amanti.
Ever since my wife's accident two years ago, I've been not as "happy" with
my '98 GXE. Yeah, it drives fine, but I always wonder how it will perform.
Anyway, I'm curious what the consensus here is on a Kia amanti - this group
seems to have good opinions and I'd prefer to ask here then in the Kia
group. Would I be foolish or wise to (a) sell my Maxima and (b) to buy a
'04 Amanti. They come pretty much loaded at $27K and currently have 0.0%
interest. I figure I could sell the Max for (kelly) between $7000 and
$9000.

Stuff I've heard about them is that the engine is not powerful enough or
sophisticated enough, and that it uses a lot of fuel. Also, its hard to
find one with the skid control whatever setup they've got.
Resale is going to be horrid. And if they don't sell enough they will drop
the model from the U.S.

Not sure what skid control would do, but the engine is one variable I had
thought of. I have the same engine in the Sedona and it is good enough. I
find it funny, however, that a DOHC engine with 1/2 liter more displacement
than my Maxima has only 10HP better rating.

That is one concern. Maximas (Maximae?) are easy to sell. I keep tabs on
what is listed in my area for the the '98 model. They seem to hold steady.
Thanks!

27K on a Kia?? Not. Resale value will be absolute sh.t on these, just like
Huyndai. In 5 years think of what it will be worth compared to a Honda,
Toyota, or Nissan. I'd go with a new Maxima if you are going to spend 27K.

I've backed away from the idea. It seems nice, but the maxima is doing fine
and I just put new tires on. I wouln't worry too much about resale (except
for gap insurance) since I usually keep cars until they drop.
