I have no experience with front wheel drive cars, but if this were a rear
wheel drive the problem would be obvious..wheel bearings. Specifically,
the front end of my Max has a grinding whirring coming from the front
wheels when moving. Is this a possibility? Odo only has 75k, seems low to
have this problem. Is there another more likely problem?

I know from personal experience that different types of tires will make more
or less noise........tires maybe?
My Maximas both have over 125K with no bearing problems.....

I had to replace a front wheel bearing on my '96 Max at 80k miles.

A wheel bearing will sometimes (but not always) stop making noise when you
press the brakes. Not really conclusive but can sometimes help diagnosis.

From what I've picked up on this board, the bearings should typically
last more than 100,000 miles, frequently much more.  But, occasionally
one will fail earlier.  Also this does not seem to be an easy or cheap
job.  Have you checked the wear on your brakes and are you sure it
isn't a tire problem?

Not to be overly simplistic, but have you checked the brake pads to make
sure its not the wear bars grinding into the rotors?
