I'm not a Maxima owner, but this sounds like a problem with a
positional sensor (air flow meter or throttle position sensor). These
types of sensors can develop worn or contaminated spots that cause
them to fail at certain positions.
First off, what do you think the underdrive pulley and CAI buy you?
Maybe 3 or 4 HP at max RPM and you probably lost most of your idle
alternator output. What a waste of time and money. Anyway, while you
were in there you likely damaged your AFM (oil will trash them) or
knocked a connector loose.

I have K&N filters in my Maxima, 350Z, Stanza and Corvette and none of
them have had mass airflow sensor problems. Also, there is nothing
wrong with an under drive pulley and they do work well. I had one on my
Mustang and it worked great. No loss of electrical power or power
steering performance. The only problem is the price is a bit high and
making sure you get the proper belt. Once you find one that works you
will need to save the holder for the next time the belt is replaced.
