I got a CEL (check engine light), pulled the codes and got 0304 (knock
sensor) and 1005 (EGRC Solenoid Valve). I replaced the EGRC solenoid
valve first to see if the knock sensor code would go away with it.
After the replacement, I cleared the CEL and began driving. I drove for
only a few miles when the CEL came back with the same exact codes as
before. I know that the knock sensor alone doesn't cause a CEL. And I
replaced the EGRC solenoid valve, so what gives with the CEL???
I'm lost, don't know what the next move should be before I take it to
the mechanic. Can anyone advise? Thanks.

I would guess (in reverse order of likelyhood) that either the new
solenoid is bad, the connection is bad, or the the old one was fine and
it's the port that's plugged with carbon.
