Not really a problem, but it's a good idea to run a synthetic oil or a
good grade of 5-30 in that weather.

it has a good synthetic 5w-30 in it now. I am using Ams/oil
which I have used in all my cars since 1974.

Then I wouldn't worry about it, though you do realize Amsoil is not API
certified, right? At least last I knew. I always thought they were more
about marketing than anything else.

Wrong. They were the FIRST to make synthetic oil that was
API certified. It is the  best on the market

According to their website, some are and some are not. If you're happy
with it and believe it's the best, that's all that matters.

No, this is just the cam followers before they fill up with oil.  Keep
the oil changed since this does have variable cam timing and if that
cokes up you have to remove the cams to fix it...

Variable cam timing in 2000? I don't think so. I think that happened in
2002 with the 3.5L engine.
