i know this sounds really dumb. but how do you get to the ignition coils so
they can be replaced?? it is a maxima 2000 gle automatic
Take the cover off the front valve cover. that is the one that is
closest to the radiator. Get a set of metric allen wrenches for this
task. The coils are held down by a ten millimeter bolt for each. The
ones in the back will need a long extension to get to them. You do not
have to take anything else off to get to the ones in the back. Push the
green tab in to get the wiring off the coil and they lift out after the
ten millimeter bolt is removed. Takes about thirty minutes for all six.
Do the plugs while you are at it. Never use Bosch plugs as they suck
for this engine. They run good for about ten-thousand miles and then
you would have to replace them. Go with double platinum autolite or the
like.

one more stupid question; i have the obdii code to replace coils. i took
off front panel. the question is that the coils on the back(yes, i was
stupid to pull one off) has the same part number.
i thought they would be different. the front is 22482y005. i looked at
rock auto and they have 3 part numbers listed.
