My 2000 GXE Maxima is approaching 50,000 miles

Thus far I've changed oil every 3000 miles, tire rotation here and there,
and had the 5-speed manual tranmission flushed at 36k.

Anything I should have done at 5 years, 50,000 miles?  It did idle out a
few times this past winter, but only on the very cold days.

Flush and fill the coolant.

Replace the fuel filter a dirty filter puts a high pressure demand on the
fuel pump and will cause the pump to fail.

I just had my 2000 SE in for the 60K at the dealer and the service advisor
said that the fuel pump was located in the gas tank and does not get
replaced...he said they test the pressure and if it appears to be lacking
the entire assembly must be replaced (filter and pump if I recall).  Does
this sound correct regarding replacing the fuel filter?

TIA,

Brad

Make that fuel filter located in the tank, not pump...

This could be correct my 89&98 Maxima had their  filters located on dash but I
have been told that many later autos now have them with pump in fuel tank.

Yes, the 2000 Maxima and onwards supposedly eliminated the feul filter
maintenance. With 99s and below, the feul filter was a separaete item
sitting in the engine bay. For the 2000s, the feul filter is in the tank
with the pump and not as easily serviceable as before, if at all.

What I hope they must have done on the 2000+ Maximas, then, it so make
the feul filter very big such that it's maintenance interval is right
around the same time as the life of the pump. If one goes bad, then the
other is close to dying too, so replace both since they're in the same
place.

Check out courtesynissan.com and buy the belts and hoses...  The coolant
is good to do as well.  Also, power flush the brake fluid.

Also, power flush the brake fluid.

?? LOL!  I've owned my 91 for 10 years and 150,000+ miles and NEVER messed
with the brake fluid.

There is no specific 50,000 mile service for this car.  You can use the
opportunity to catch up on stuff you should have done previously if you fell
like it needs something.  Take out the service schedule in your owner's
manual and see what it says.
