1993 Maxima Tranny Swap Question

Hi there, my stepson and I jut aquired a 93 Maxima for $500. Motor runs
great, body and interior are imacculate. One problem is the absense of a
transmission. This car had an automatic Tranny.
I wish to put in a 5 speed manual.  Is this possible? What else needs to
change? Have any of you done this before?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Harlan^Man

Anything is possible. Ask your question in the 3rd gen forum on maxima.org.

I would think you'll need a new transmission controller and possibly a new
main ECU to run everything, but not sure.  New console trim and clutch
pedal, etc. Not sure of wiring harnesses or transmission mounts.  Sounds
like a pain!

Thank you all for the advise, I will try my best to talk him out of
converting this to a manual tranny. I told him it would probably need a
new ECU.
Thanks again to all who gave advise, it is much appreciated!

This is a major endeavour.  As Chris mentions, the ECU is expecting
signals from the transmission, mounts are different, console trim,
clutch pump and slave cylinder, pedal and interlock switch, etc. etc.

Good luck
