i tried to start the car to day and the relay for the ignition was
making a clicking noise when i tried to start the car and nothing else
wanted to start. the battery is still good cause it holds charge, i've
even tried to jump start it and still would not start.
can any one help me diagnose the problem of this maxima??

Check Fuses, alarm, M/T clutch -or- A/T gear selector sw. Try giving direct +12V to starter solenoid = ensure starter is ok. (Its relatively easy; just to follow the thin wire coming up from starter solenoid, find connector, take wire to connect it to +pole.) Check

For the starter to work you need:
A good battery
A good starter
Good connections from the battery to the starter.
Good control system (ignition switch, fuses, as in Wilkinki's post)
If the connections appear rusted, clean your battery cable terminals by
immersing them in water with baking soda, clean the battery terminals
the same way. Some older battery manuals suggested using vaseline to
protect the terminals from the battery acid. If you use the felt discs
on the battery, coat them with vaseline.
Good luck.
