I have a full shop manual, but it is silent on whether the transmission can
be removed from below by itself, or from above with the engine attached.
Does anybody here know?
All replies appreciated.

Pulled mine (93 SE std) from below. Simple job. Light enough to lower
(not drop) onto chest & not be smooshed. Rebuilt the tranny in my
kitchen. Input shaft seal & bearing. Bearing race is supposed to have 7
balls separated by a race. Mine had 4 balls left and no race at all.

Art, thanks for your message.  Mine is an automatic.  Were you removing an
automatic?

Thanks, Ivan

My shop manual goes into greater detail on manual tranny removal so I
suspect proceedure the same for auto.

Remove half shafts.
Unbolt tranny from engine.
Repove bolts from torque conver to drive plate by rotating for access.
Mark pieces for fit on reinstallation.

Really not much else there to read.
