1996 Maxima O.D. Problem

My 1996 Maxima make a series of quick slips, or what I would call a "judder"
when it shifts into overdrive. It also seems to jerk and shift hard when it
downshifts out of overdrive. Is this just a sticky solenoid or some bigger
problem? If it is the solenoid, is there anything I can do to clean or lube
it so that it shifts smoother or does it need to be replaced? Is this a DIY
project?

If you haven't changed the ATF for a awhile, that would be the first
step.  My '96 has gotten this problem twice and both times it was
asking for fresh fluid.  As soon as it was changed, the problem went
away.
