Hello out there...............I've had 3 calipers replaced on my 1998 Max in
the past year - the two back ones last week, when the pads were being
replaced...........I checked with Maxima.org, and find the piston must be
rotated back in, not pushed...........could this have been the problem -
perhaps ignorance on the part of the mechanic?.............would like
feedback............thks..........wab

As long as it's not the same calipers, then no nothing is wrong.  I've
replaced both of my rear calipers and then pre-emptively rebuilt my
fronts too.

That sounds as an awfully large number of calipers to have replaced.  I
have a 94 and never had to replace anything other than the pads.  The
trick, replacing the brake fluid every time the reservoir starts looking
tan.   The brake fluid I use is Valvoline Synpower Synthetic Formula and
it's color is almost clear.  I knock on wood...

Good luck!

It's ALWAYS the "mechanic" that breaks the car, things don't just happen on
their own do they.

If you took it to someone that know how to diagnose the problem and not just
shotgun parts at it you would not have this problem.

98 Maximas had problems with the e-brake cables hanging up causing premature
wear to the rear brake pads.replace the cables , cut the rotors and install
new OEM rear brake pads.

So much for maxima. org eh ?
