Hi,
I have a 97 Maxima, that has been making a noise that you and I have
discussed before, well now, I have unusual wear on my right front rotor, it
looks like I had a pad wear too far and gouge the disk, but I didn't, it is
also the side, under acceleration, that make a squeal, I found that the
right side has a bearing, that the left side does not have? could this
bearing be bad?
It looks as if there is some play under acceleration that is causing the
caliper to come into contact with the rotor?!?!
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
PS the local dealer had this car for a WEEK looking for this noise, and
could not find the cause.

I'm not sure of this bearing you speak of, maybe you could be a bit more
specific as to its location.

you may want to disassemble the right front brake caliper and inspect the
pins that slide in and out of the caliper mount.

there are some rubber bushings on the caliper pin/slides, if those are
rotted away it can cause the floating caliper assembly to move more than it
should

Per NissTech's reply, when I disassembled my calipers
I found that some rust had snuck onto the metal mounting pins.
They didn't slide very well, causing the caliper/pad to stay in contact with the rotor.
I cleaned them off, and re-greased the pins.
I haven't had any problems since then.
