A note of caution to fellow Maxima owners who drive in stop-and-go
traffic -- a brief moment of distraction can cost you big-time.
Fortunately, my little lapse of attention occurred while I was driving
behind an older jeep with a metal bumper, leaving nothing more than a
clean spot where my front bumper made contact.
Unfortunately, as the fender crumpled it was driven up into the hood,
which in turn did some crumpling of its own.
Fortunately, the many, many chips accumulated from driving with soft
Nissan paint on the roads of Southern California over the past four
years have, along with my $500 deductible, have now been erased.
Unfortunately, if I wish to keep my front end looking nice I will have
to get a bra.
Fortunately, the other driver was not injured and I was able to depart
the scene without exchanging insurance information.
Unfortunately, my rates will probably be heading north at renewal
time.
Fortunately, my 2000 Max GLE looks brand new again and the loan is
paid off.
So there you have it, the Yin and Yang of driving a Maxima in the big
city.
Better luck to the rest of you . . .
Sincerely,
An Inadvertent Crash-Test Dummy

Try the same thing except it was the one I rear-ended had a rear mounted
tire. This tire was place just right for my 96 Max so that the tire totally
missed my front bumper and was dead on with the begining of my hood. Can
you say instant tent? The whole hood folded up like a playing card. Only
going about 3-5mph. Very, very, very painful to watch. Ohh yeah, no damage
to his vehicle.

Nope, I was on my way to a meeting and had just noticed a stain on my
shirt. Spent a bit too much time pondering what the stain might be .
