looking for a good pad for rear brakes?

thanks

Are you asking or telling?

Stick with Nissan pads which are very good and you won't have any problems.
Make sure they cost about $50-70 not the Key Value Nissan pads which cost
around $20

Good advice. Use anything else and you'll be using your car as a -beta
testbed-.

I agree.  I used what were supposed to be good aftermarket pads
(sorry, I forget the manufacturer) and they are wearing faster and
produce far most dust than the Nissan pads.

Of course... it depends heavily on how you want to drive the car...

full performance? moderate performance? street racing? regular
crusing? I think there are pad formulations for every type of driving.

I am looking for recommendations for a good pad for rear brakes?
I need to replace the rear pads on my
2000 Nissan Maxima SE, auto, 80,000 miles ( orig pads)
very moderate driver, no fast starts, no fast stop ( unless required)
lots of big city driving..     regular type driving,  I would say.
thanks in advance. :)

Raybestos... available at most better auto parts stores... their QS
(Quiet Stop) line has performed very well on several of my vehicles,
but I have yet to replace the brakes on my Maxima. They aren't
performance pads so the don't squeal (if properly installed) and offer
full braking power on first stop, but they will noticeably fade after
two or three high speed stops in quick succession.

If fade resistance is important to you, then you may want to move into
the performance categories, in which case Axxis pads are suggested.

They  (the QS pads) also have very good low-dust qualities;  as good
or better than the OEM pads I replaced with them in almost every case.

The raybestos "QS" are a low metallic ceramic enhanced pad.  I put them on
the front of my wife's van and while they are definitely quieter than the
fleet-mets I had on there before , it has a much softer pedal feel and
reduced effectiveness compared to the fleet-mets.  when these wear out again
I'm going back to the fleet-mets.  I'll live with the noise in return for
better stopping.
just my .02

Interesting... when I put them on my Acura Integra I didn't notice any
change in pedal feel... nor my Rodeo... but I did note the tendency to
fade sooner with repeated stops.  But since I only did that when I
wanted to, I wasn't too concerned.

I tried a set of Axxis pads (metal master, I think, but I could be
wrong) on the Acura.  I was amazed at how hard I had to press to get
good braking... until they got warm.  Then they stopped like crazy,
with excellent feel and modulation.  Only problem was, I couldn't
drive that way... keeping the pads hot, I mean... in every day
driving.  So I had to take them off.

Putting performance pads on a street drive may sound great, but in
practice it just doesn't hack it for me.
