I have a 2001 maxima gle.  The button controls air flow does not close and as a result of that, I'm getting exhaust fumes from other vehicles.  The dealer claims that there is no problem; or that it is 'fixed'; or you need to leave (for umpteenth time) it.  Anyone else experiencing this problem?  Or solved it?  I have notified Nissan and will be taking the car in to the dealer for a brake job.  I have 42,000 miles on the car.

In my old 00 and current 02 Max's the recirc button has no effect when
in defrost mode, presumably to keep the air inside from getting too
humid.  Both have have auto-climate control as your GLE does.

If I'm not mistaken, even with recirc on, by design a small amount of
fresh air is still allowed to enter.

The recirc button on any car only allows more recirculated air, not
totally recirculated. You will always have outside air coming in.
