Hi there,

I have a 1993 Nissan Maxima GXE. I recently bought it and wanted to
know if this is a car that requires Premium fuel type or regular would
do.

I drove the same generation engine 167K miles on octane 87 regular
gas, and it seemed to do just fine. Every once in a while I would try
the high-test, as the manual suggested, but I never could tell the
difference. But that's just my own experience.

times when going up a hill I get a little pinging. went to
premium and it is not as bad?

As I recall, the owner's manual recommends 89 aki.
