Disabling a Maxima Alarm

Hi folks. I have a used '90 Maxima with a factory alarm. It started going off randomly a few weeks ago and is not only aggravating because of the honking, but it disables my starter too. Usually the honking stops when I unlock the driver-side door but the starter doesn't always "unlock." So two questions:

1. How do I get the starter back after the alarm goes off?
2. How can I take the alarm out completely (DIY please, i don't want to have to see a dealer)?

Thanks!

Sorry, can't help you fix the problem, but I just started having the same problem today. I never even knew my car had an alarm, and it went off today, and I can't start my car. Pls let me know when you find a solution.

I am not sure how to disable the alarm, but I can tell you how to disarm it
when it goes off.  Simply shut the door(s), lock with the key from the
outside, and unlock.  That should stop the honking and reset the starter
kill.

I made the mistake of locking the doors on a nice day with the windows
rolled down.  Figuring I could just reach in the window and unlock the doors
from the inside.  Big mistake.  As soon as I opened the door the alarm went
off.  The dealership was no help on the phone.  Luckly another person that
owned a Nissan parked right next to me and told me the little trick.
