If anyone is online now to help I would appreciate it. Am changing rear
brake pads on wifes 99 maxima, but am having trouble getting caliber off.
Have removed 4 bolts so far, but caliber won't swing down. Also, the pins in
2 small bolts that hold brake pad on, how are they removed. If anyone could
send illustration or offer help it would be gratefully appreciated.
Try out this link. It is for the FRONT brakes, but the rear are basically
the same. The only difference is the way you compress the caliper. I was
unable to find a detailed link like the one below, but I did do some cut and
paste for yah. Also be very careful with the caliper piston boot. Hope it
helps.

The rear calipers must be screwed in to compress. You may be able to use
needlenose pliers but the best bet is to acquire the special tool. I
purchased one at my auto parts store for approximately $12. Be careful to
turn the piston clockwise and to cover the boot with brake cleaner or brake
fluid to preven the boot from snagging or coming out of its retaining clip.
Please see the formum issue with the subject Compressing Rear Brakes. It
will show you a picture of the special tool as well as describe the
procedures better

Thanks for reply. I gave up on trying to get this off, didn't know about the
screwing in to compress. Could you tell me where I can locate the forum to
read about this, compressing of the caliber. Hate to pay to get this done
when I know I can do it myself. Thanks a lot.
