Hello,

I was wondering if someone could tell me what this little lever is for? ...
1983 280ZX

It is on the driver's side (Right Hand drive) about knee height under the
dash.
It has a couple of small vacuum hoses connected to the other side.
It is labelled:
PULL
OPEN

Any info will be appreciated.

Cheers,

H.

If not the obvious...bonnet ( hood ) release, it could be the "Floor
ventilation control lever"  ( which is just below the ignition switch RH
drive ) !

Yep...according to the diagram in my "Nissan 280ZX" book, it's just that :
"Floor ventilation control lever" !

I'd say by the description ( since I don't actually own a 280ZX...yet ) that
it would just open up a vent to let fresh ( outside ) air into the cabin at
the floor level....

Take it for a spin .. then pull the lever...and see if you can feel air
comming in...

I'll have a read through the text in that chapter and see if it mentions it
any way...

I have 3 280ZX's and that lever does not work on any of them.

Maybe ...they stoped connecting it over the years or something ?

Well, the vacuum hoses are probably part of the system that channels the
airflow to the upper ports for aircon and lower ports for heating.  My 280zx
is a bit older and doesn't have that switch but i know all about the vacuum
hoses.
