I committed the most preventable mistake! I tried to start my '93 300zx
after the winter season and when I went to jump the battery, I switched the
cables. Now the thing just won't start. The radio won't turn on either. I
checked all the fuses and they're all fine. Does anybody have any ideas,
experiences? Thanks.

Yes there is a specific order in how the cables are connected. You should
do an internet search on Z32 or 300ZX and look on the web sites for the
correct order. I believe it's the positive cable first then the negative.

I wish I had put them on in the wrong order, but actually I connected the
positive to the negative, and visa versa. I smelled something burning when
I tried to start the car. I disconnected my jumper pack and when I
reconnected it the correct way the car wouldn't start. Anybody with any
ideas? TIA

By "won't start" what do you mean? It spins over but won't fire, nothing
happens, what?

There is probably a fused link. It's an inline fuse. It should be easy to
find. Just follow your cables back from the battery. If you smelt something
burning, you should be able to find a burnt spot in the wires.
The "specific order" of jumper cables is just a commonly practiced "safe"
way to jump cars. Connect both cables on the good battery first. Then
connect the red (hot) on the dead cars battery. Your last connection is the
ground which you should make on the the engine or frame. NOT ON THE BATTERY.
You do this because of Hydrogen gas given off of the battery. The last
connection you make will spark a little. this could egnite the Hydrogen gas
causing an explosion.
Good luck,
Randy
