Hello Great Knowledge Base for the Z-car,

I am completely stumped with a current problem I am having with my 1977 280z
2+2. (fuel injected)
It's run like a champ, minimal problems easily fixed by me.  This latest one
is a doozie.

A while back, I had noticed that my fuel pump would intermittently begin
operating for no apparent reason.  Keys in my hand and I'm not even IN the
car yet.
It had ran my battery dead brfore I realized it was running.  (I had thought
I'd left my lights on.)

Well now it's dead, not the pump, where ever or what ever supplies  the
voltage to pump.  Or a fusible link I've overlooked or something.
I've checked what I thought was the most obvious and replace suspect
hardware accordingly.  Any help or similar expierence would be
tremendously appreciated.

-All fuses checked out ok.
-New ignition switch assy.
-New fuel injector/fuel pump relay assy.  (the impossible to find
11connection pin unit.)
-Alternator test ok.  Checker auto parts-but voltage reg. part of testcame
up n/a because of external regulator.
-3/4 tank of fuel.
-No obvious charring or soft wires under dash or along fuel pump power feed.
(including under back seat connections)

That's all I can think of right now, I'm a bit frustrated. Oh, and it's
hotter than hell.

Thank you very much for your time,
Todd

Actually tested or looking at them?

First check and clean all the fuseable links under the hood, if they are all
OK:

Run a wire from the FP relay conector that powers the pump to the ign switch
and move on.... Given it ran with you not in the car, that's what I'd be
doing unless someone -insisted- on making it "correct".
