Update 7/23/04 87 300zx

After trying for hours finally got afm out using another one from 84 zx
that got for parts still doing same low rpms fine pressing gas suddenly it
putts and black smoke coming from exhaust even on idle speed. fixed
emissions canister bottom. besides afm should I check something else like
egr? used afm is remanufactured python don't know condition. mine is the
original one. if AFM to be replaced where shuld I get a remanufactured one?

is the intake hose good?  if the intake hose is cracked or torn it will
do what you are saying.  Also, if this is not the case try the cold
start injector.  If the injector is stuck open you will get too much gas
and it will cause it to smoke.

These don't have a cold start injector.

check the fuel pressure regulator and see if it has a blown diaphram.
The fuel pressure will be very high at an idel and the transistion
through the range would be really rich if it was defective.  Also, the
idle air control valve could be stuck or clogged and that could cause a
rich condition too.
