auto idle problems 93 300zx tt

please can someone advise me. my rev needle bounces up and down when the
engine is cold and when starting and stopping at the beginning of a
journey. on occasion the engine has lost power and stalled. air filter and
throttle bodies are clear and idle is fine once warmed up. has anyone else
had this problem? how to rectify?
