Just got a 90 300zx NA with AT (rather have MT though) anyway drive the car
for about a week everything sounds and works good until two days ago when
starting car in cold rainy weather in TN rpm's went up on idle to 1500 then
when wormed up to 2000 on idle too. Transmission feel different like when
it's really cold, kind of slow for shifts and hard on doing it. today the
rpm issue I guess got fixed somehow but AT still doing same jerking thing
hard on shifts not smooth like used to. what you recommend me to check? oil
level looks OK.

Have your mechanic run the codes.  May be a sign of the AT giving up
the ghost.  I most recently saw this on my Pontiac Montana.  Mechanic
hit reset, which took care of the problem, but it kept coming back
until we finally had to replace the transmission.
