I currentlly am restoring a 300zx 1986......Everything worked fine...Drove
it and everything.....Somehow someone borrowed the battery out of it and
replaced it, but hooked it up reverse polarity...Ouch right......Well I
checked all the fusable links and that seems to be ok......But now the car
only stays running for like 8 seconds.....To me it sounds like this(but im
not a mechanic).....Turn the key on
.....Fuel pump starts then shuts off (Pressure I guess met)
.....Start the car runs for like 8 seconds stalls.
.....Turn key off, rest computer, runs again......

Almost like when pressure in the fuel line is reached it stops.
Good right!

But once the car is running from the initial startup fuel pump
never turns on again.....hummmmm

Anyone have any ideas

Check fuel pressure as well. If you trouble shoot all the fuel issue's and
your sure that fuel delivery is OK might consider testing flow meter. The
symptoms that you described could be the flow meter. I have had the same
issue with a 85' model myself  years ago. After I finally gave up and a
professional diagnostics found that it was a $450 flow meter part. That was
back in the early 90's not sure what they cost now, I hope it's not the part
that's bad on yours...just a FYI to keep in mind.

Good Luck,
Ronnie
