1982 Nissan 280ZX 2+2 - $300 obo
I really love this car, but just don't have time to fix it up. Has been
parked for awhile, but still starts and runs. Started right up last time I
tried (about 4 months ago), although it needs a battery, I have to use a
charger to start it.
Great car for someone with the time and drive to restore. Would also be a
great father/son project and first car. I used to drive it across Dallas
daily and considered it very reliable.
Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! Please direct all
inquiries/offers to: ForSale0505@BishopStudios.com
Mechanically:
Engine was very strong when parked, good compression on all cylinders. Fuel
injectors leak a bit, as is common among these cars.
Replacement 90 psi fuel pump installed in '97. Repainted by Peach Auto
Painting in '97. Originally dark gray, repainted Jaguar Racing Green. Front
shocks, tires and A/C evaporator in '98. Fuel injector seals in '99. Front
brake pads in 2002. Other than that, I had no problems with the car (except
the lack of a/c!), and drove it daily until it got hit in May 2002,
prompting me to buy a new truck.
Brakes are sticky from sitting, but with a little work, should be fine,
front pads were new when it was parked. Rear pads included if I can find
them.
Electronics work good, needs 1 front headlamp, and 1 rear lens where the
trash truck bumped it (small hole). 1 of the rear taillight connectors needs
to be replaced, but as there are 2 per side, I just never got around to it.
Needs a new battery, but will jump start with the old one. Lots of extra
relays that I pulled from another z, although I'm not sure of their
condition.
A/C is out, but the evaporator was replaced 1 week before the compressor
went south. The tech who replaced it did some funky homemade setup on the
expansion valve, which caused the compressor to go out. (Don't get me
started on that one!)
Rear tires will hold air, but slowly leak down over a period of several
weeks. Front tires are still pretty good, but probably a little hard from
age.
Muffler has a hole, but still passed emmissons with flying colors the last
time it was tested (March 2002). Some techs are sticklers about it though,
so it might have to be replaced. Depends on how enlightened your inspector
is about that sort of thing.
Cosmetically:
Damage on left side where it was hit in 2002. Extra door included. All trim
is present and in decent shape. Complete, with the exception of the driver's
side window glass, mirror lens and windshield wiper arms and blades. Very
little rust in damaged area. Rest of body is straight, with no major
problems, just minor dings and scratches. See pictures at
http://www.whitet.com/sale/misc/ Pics are about a year old, but it still
looks the same, the paint might be a little bit more faded. I can take new
pictures on request, although I don't think anyone could tell any
difference. It currently looks the same as in the pictures above.
Front interior is a bit rough, but the backseat is in really good shape.
Interior plastic is a bit faded/brittle in places. Interior is light gray
and black. Leather seats and all of the options. Carpet is rough due to age.
Thanks for looking!
