I hope someone can answer this question for me. I need a Vacuum
canister for my 1986 300zx 2+2 Non-Turbo. I have been offered a few
with the part number 92260-01P01. I think this may be a newer
version. The part number on my canister is 92260-21P00. Does anyone
know if I will be able to use the part# being offered to me?
The Vacuum canister (or "Vacuum tank", as my service manual call's it)
is located in front of the radiator overflow tank.

What's wrong with yours? I've seen the check valve go bad but this can be
"repaired" by using an external one from the parts store. Otherwise go to a
junkyard..

A terminal for one of the vacuum hoses broke off the vacuum canister.
Now the air conditioning and heater don't work properly. That's why I'm
trying to replace it.
Local junkyards don't carry parts for my car anymore. I've had great
success on eBay but
recently only had a few offers for canisters with a different part
number. That's why I asked
if it's an acceptable replacement. This only happened 2 days ago but
the local temperature suddenly soared into the 90's and I'm dying
without the air conditioning! Meanwhile, with the help of Home Depot, I
bought a tiny hollow metal tube and epoxy glue designed for extreme
temperatures and may have fixed it permanently. I still may prefer to
replace the unit so I still would like to know if the part numbers are
interchangeable.

You have.
This is a common problem. We regularly replace ALL the vac hoses under the
hood and through the firewall to the T connector next to the blower
housing. You can attach the new to the old with a "barbed" splice and pull
it through the firewall feeding it from inside the car. Otherwise getting
to the hole in the firewall is a nightmare! It's behind the evaporator.
