I have an 86 300zx non turbo MT which had been running great. Parked it in
the garage, went to drive it about a week later and it was hard starting.
Got it to idle but as soon as I touch the gas it would die. If I pump the
gas pedal really fast, it will rev higher but it's rough. Cant drive it, any
load at all, even turning on the fan and it dies. Replaced the fuel filter
but didn't help.I checked the throttle position switch with an ohm meter and
it seems to be ok. Any ideas to try next? Thanks

Unplug the MAS and see if it reponds to throttle input. It won't rev past
2200 with it unplugged but might be a clue that the MAS is the problem if
it seems better with it unplugged.

Ok, I tried that and it did seem to be better and you are right, it wont rev
past 2000. I will have to get
a new MAS and see if that fixes it. Cant afford one right now but in the
next couple weeks I should be able
to.

Thanks

It most likely will. Seems like at least 50% of the time this part is the
cause of running problems on those cars. Also check the AIV valve and use a
nissan air filter to avoid future problems.
