A/C question

When your AC compressor starts clicking loudly, could that mean that it
will lock up and fry the belt. People have told me that they have driven
their car for years with the AC clicking and no lock-up.

You mean when it's running it's clicking on and off? It's low on freon.

You mean it's clicking while running constantly? The belt is the least of
your concern!  :-)  Yes it might go for years like this and it might not.
No way to know without a crystal ball.
