I own a 1993 Z-32 the engine was stolen along with about half my interior
including the seats!
Will all engines 1990 thru 1996 work in my Z-32.
One shop said they could put in 91 engine with the same 121xxx miles on it
and I'd never know the difference.  So I'm not sure they are right ?

I called another shop and they said there are minor differencs in the 92
engine but it would bolt up so long as a buy an engine with a 5 speed bell
housing.  They said I need an engine with its wiring harness in tact, but
said my harmonic balancer is differnet but were vague as to what this part
is and whether I could get one off the 92 model and it would work.

So I need some advice as to whether its worth saving $250 on a 1992 engine
and go that route or find a 93 thru 95 engine.  I live near Chattanooga,
anybody know of a Z shop nearby ?
Thanks.

The later versions had improvements like better VTC's that don't leak oil
and rattle etc. Just upgrading the VTC's to the later ones is $1000 in
parts alone!

The trans type makes no difference so those people are clueless.

Find another shop.

We're in Atlanta. And yes you want a 93-95 engine if you can find one.

So what kind of mods would be needed to use a 1990, 91 or 92 engine
The VTC change would be nice.  Other than the wiring harness and harmonic balancer what else is needed ?  Seems like the mods are minor but finding a good harness for cheap is not easy.  So get an engine with the harness
