Hi!
I ran the ECU diagnostic on my 90m ZXTT and got the code 53 and 21. My car
is hesitating and stumbling (the whole car is shaking). The car is worse
when it's half warmed up, but it's also a great lose of power when it's
warmed up. When the weather is cold the car could be just fine for about 5
minutes, but when the weather is warm the car is a nightmare from the
beginning of the ride to the end...could this possible be a damaged PTU...?
(and this may give wrong signal to the O2 sensor at the passenger side?)
Thanks
Anders

My 280 had a bad catalytic converter and had the same symptoms.
Be careful though.
I took mine out, put in a straight pipe.
Ran faster than ever, but blew the rings because there was no backpressure.
If you remove it and it runs better, be sure to put a replacement in it's
place.

Code 21 is for ignition signal circuit. It means you need to check your
wiring harness and also your PTU.
The 53 means your Right side 02 sensor has failed. You need to replace it.
Other things that can cause this code are fuel pressure problem, injector
problems, and intake air leaks. A faulty 02 sensor will definately give you
hesitation.

I have an 87 z non turbo. I had problems with it shutting off after a
while or even after it starts. I changed the distributor and it's been
working fine evry since. It has a sensor relay inside it which goes bad.
