Bose Err2

My Bose system displays "Err2." If I try and eject the CD, it will display
"Wait" and nothing happens no matter how long I wait. What is causing this?
Is the CD stuck? It was like that when I picked it up from the Nissan dealer
today after getting the front left bearings replaced. That work shouldn't
have affected the CD player. What can I do to fix the problem?

Thanks,

The problem is a CD has come out of its track and is jamming the
mechanism. Lots of places will charge you an arm and a leg to "repair"
the problem or replace the changer (which is actually a cheap-a.s
Clarion piece, not a Bose). I found a very helpful website that details
how to remove the audio unit
yourself:(http://www.carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalNispthfndr03StrR.htm.htm)
I removed the unit, turned it upside down and pushed all the numbered
buttons and eject button, whacked the side of the unit a few times, and
finally, the unit spit out the CDs and started functioning again.
Primitive and no guarantee of success, but it beat paying some
neanderthal to do the same thing or worse, paying for a new unit. If
you want to disconnect the unit altogether to do your whacking, be
careful not to damage the harness connections. Use a small flathead
screwdriver to "unlock" the harnesses and pull them out gently (but
with some strength). I wouldn't recommend the aftermarket replacements
and adapters, as they have spotty reputation.

I have exactly the same problem.

Their web site has been down the past 24 hours, or I would
try calling them directly.  However I checked out
the cached pages in Google and tried following their directions.
I am stuck at step one of the removal:  I used a flat head
screwdriver to try to remove the heat vents, but I got no
movement with a substantial amount of pressure.  I slipped
the screwdriver in the right side, went far enough down
not to be just grabbing the trim only, and tried prying the
vents out.  No movement at all.

Would you mind sharing your experience with the removal?
Is this just a matter of more force, or am I missing something?

Thanks.

Let me add that mine is a 2001 Pathfinder.

You may want to look at the removal directions at
www.shareamemory.com/radio.  There are some very good detailed pictures of
the process of getting the radio out...you have to scroll down to the info
on the Pathfinder radio.  You can also send the unit in for repairs
(apparently a lot of Err2 errors on these radios).

There are two or three clips at the top and bottom of the vent, which
is why the instructions are to pop it with a screwdriver from the right
side. It isn't easy, but it eventually yields. I do recommend going to
the sight that gives the pictures. I thought I was going to wreck the
vent the first time I tried it, but it eventually yielded.

This is a common problem with Factory Bose/Clarion 6-disc changers.
The gears to load and switch CDs are made of plastic that will eventually get
brittle and crack or strip out.
You may want to take a look at how Nissan and Clarion will handle this
problem:

http://forum.ecoustics.com/cgi-bin/bbs/show.pl?4/137782

I have also sent emails to corporate and working with the Better
Business Bureau and the State Attorney General's Office for a
resolution.
nospam4cj - 16 Oct 2006 16:46 GMT
Since I have not had an expedient reply from Nissan regarding my case of the
Bose Clarion 6-disc changer, I decided to call the Executive Specialist I
have been working with for this case. I called early on Thursday Oct 12 and
left a message. I received a returned call on Friday Oct 13. The Executive
Specialist told me that the board was reviewing the case and should have an
answer by Friday Oct 20.

I am really looking forward to a resolution to this problem so
Nissan/Infiniti can redeem their name. If a correct resolution is not found,
Nissan/Infiniti will continue to allow vendors to get away with using parts
that are not engineered to high quality standards.

Everyone out there that has experienced this problem should check out the
NHTSA website and file a complaint:
http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/complain/
Your local state Attorney General's office can also help you with filing a
claim against the CD player.

I called the executive specialist today (Oct.24) that has been working on my
case regarding the Bose Clarion Err2 Err3 problem. I wasexpecting a call or
an email on Oct.20; however, no such luck. I was told that Nissan does have a
finding and information to send to me; however, I did not get any details on
the phone. I will post the findings and information here to allow everyone to
generate their own opinion on how Nissan handles this problem.
