My '88 Stanza is a four cylinder but has eight spark plugs - one in each of
the intake sides and one in each of the exhaust sides. Now, if one coil
failes, say the coil that produces spark for the intake side, would the
engine keep running off the other coil??

Yes, but not as good.  I have one that I bought used and it was running
on the front plugs since the bonehead that worked on the car for the
previous owner never changed the back plugs.  It was a wonder it ran at
all.  With all eigth plugs working this thing really runs good and
powerful.

Yes.  You can test this out by disconnecting a coil.  You'll see it runs,
just not as well.  You can also have a look at:

Depends on which coil dies. One of them cuts out at wide open throttle.
