Lets see - new sparkplugs due to 'gunk' after experiencing some  severe
bucking.

Center columnlatch - minor thing, really.

replaced catalyic converter due to 'engine lite' - apparently a flaw
with the maufacturer where some compund loosens and  can get back into
the engine, wrecking it too boot.

Clunking in rear initially thought  due to anti-swaybar bushings.

replaced all shocks, various fron ent suspension parts to fix 'clunking'
sound on rough roads.  Now it feels like car is going to leap off the
pavement when hitting any bump bigger than 1/2 inch in hieght.  Also
wheel allignment is off, steering wheel off centre by two inches.

All the above done at the dealer under warranty.

is it a lemon?

The dealer is definitely a lemon.

I had a 98 Sentra with the same and had nothning - NOTHING - wrong in
four years. Traded up to a new ALtima and methinks  it is a lemon.
Gonna but a Toyota. Nissan turns to crap,  it seems.

I agree, get a new dealer.  My guess is the mechanic did more harm than good
to your car.

I own a 2002 Altima and I think it is a pretty close to a lemon.
Center consol cover, plastic broke. Rework back brakes at
approxinately 30m miles, they quit working, (300+ dollars). Trim under
driver seat loose (dealer fixed and lasted about 1/2 mile before
falling off again) Bad tire when brand new and dealer refused to take
care of, (also Nissan did not follow up with me when I complained. I
assume they took the dealers word for what happened and screw the
customer). I also have the clunking sound but gave up on having any
thing done right.
Transmission does not shift correctly but Nissan service put the
machine on it and told me 'it is within specs."
Also in my area of the country where we get a lot of snow I would not
recommend this car as it handles real bad on ice and in snow.
It is my second new Nissan and probably my last.
I also have had three recalls. I think Nissan has lost their edge.

In the Ohio lemon law, its a lemon if you bring it back 3 times and the
dealer still cannot fix it.
I wish the law applied to used cars too!
