My pathfinder does not want to come out of park. Holding my foot on the
brake doesn't seem to help. Can anyone give advice?

I can't wait to read the replies to this one

my guess is that something that contains sugar like soda pop or coffee (with
sugar) got spilled into/on the shifter

There's a solenoid in the shifter that releases it when you step on the
brake pedal. It might be stuck or bad.
