It started with the battery light, very dimly lit, and whenever i
turned on the heating it would turn on even more, i thought it was the
battery connectors, so I changed them. It didn't work, well it didn't
light up as much as it did before but still would turn on.

After a while, whenever I would hit the brakes the "headlight sign" on
my dashboard turns on, and now, the gas meter and the heat meter often
don't work and then all of a sudden work and the drops the needles
again.

Any ideas what it could be?

I have done some research about it, and I'm beginning to think that is
the alternator, but the descirptions of the battery and brake lights
are not the same.

Pleeeease help!!!
