Hi all,
I'm probably going to be buying an SUV in the next 2-4 months. I recently
test drove a 2005 Xterra. I like it. A lot. Of course, test drives and
long term ownership are totally different things.
Does anyone here own one? What do think about it after having it a while?
The sticker says you get 22 MPG on the interstate for 2wd models (21 for
4WD). Are you even getting close to that? How has the fit and finish held
up on it? Any major complaints?
The big question: if you had a choice between a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer with
10k miles on it (it's 4x4 with decent but not great options) for $22,000 or
a new Xterra 4x2 (loaded) that costs about $26,000, which would you get?
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Chris Smith

No question - Xterra. Trailblazers are your typical POS GM product.

I bought my 05 X in February (the dealer said it was the first one sold in
New England). After about 2 months and 3500 miles, i absolutely love it.
By far the BEST vehicle I have ever owned.
I'm getting about 18 MPG, very lead footed driving habits. The new engine
their putting in the X is amazing - punch the gas a little and I'm doing
80mph before I realize what's happening.
Only defect I've had so far is the screw that holds the In-Cabin
microfilter in is missing. Big deal! (I was expecting at least one "real"
problem given it's a total redesign, so far nothing.)
A friend of mine has a Trail Blazer - I find it rather "boring" compared
to the Xterra.
I say go for the 05 X!
